The sky is looking good for a sunset, so I grab my big tripod, climb up on the roof of the RV, and take a bunch of different exposures to play with. I’ve done a little more reading about High Dynamic Range imaging, and what I’m doing might not technically qualify as HDR, which in its pure form requires a special image format, but it’s definitely similar. I take three shots, one dark, one medium, and one light, and mix them all together, using the best parts of each. It took some practice, but I think I’m getting a good feel for it.

Did you use any special software for this or just Photoshop? I only recently became aware of HDRI, so your post is timely!
I use the GIMP. There are so many different ways to accomplish this, it took me a while to find one I was comfortable with. This tutorial that uses masking made sense to me, so I started there and played with similar techniques until I found one that’s intuitive to me.
Thanks for the info. That tutorial looks pretty straightforward.
This is really new to me. I don’t have time right now to explore what you are doing but it looks great. You can tell me more about it soon!!
