We figure we have plenty of flexibility to wait the recommended 24 hours after rain to climb the local sandstone, but we’re curious about Chuckawalla Wall, an overhanging face just north of Saint George that is covered with easy-to-access sport climbs. There are trails to hike there too, so we go out just to take a look. We see plenty of people climbing, mostly from out of town by the bits of conversation we overhear. We let it go, and find the trails are worth a look as well. On the fringes of Snow Canyon state park and growing housing developments of Saint George, these sandy trails wind though and over the rocky hills, sometimes feeling isolated and sometimes suburban. Great for a quick aerobic workout with some canyon flavor.
I do “dog laps” – running ahead of Ann while she hikes, then coming back to join her.
