My birthday dawns grey and windy, yet still buggy. Ann improvises a windbreak to speed up coffee making.
The clouds and a few brief mists of rain actually make for pleasant hiking with Rockbound Valley to our west as we leave Desolation Wilderness.
We reach Richardson Lake in the evening and Ann makes a frosted birthday cookie, lights a candle, and sings for me.
Turning 40 should be scary, I guess, but surprisingly I feel kind of relieved. I’ve learned enough about myself in four decades to assuage much of the angst and uncertainty it took to get on a path that suits me, and now I get to see where it goes.

Love this. ๐ That cookie looks tasty too. I think you are definitely on a beautiful path… and I look forward to seeing where it goes too! I suspect I will read that in the next few posts. Don’t you end up back in Reno eventually? ๐
Perhaps I do – but the path may not end in Reno ๐
