I like illusions for a lot of different reasons. They are reminders that things are almost never as they seem, and of the ultimate fallibility of the senses. I see hobos as people who have uncovered some of the illusions that prevent many of us from taking our freedom. Most of these illusions are ideas – the idea that life is over if you lose your job, or that money and possessions are essential.
