Ann has the brilliant idea to combine two short day outings into an overnight. We leave in the late afternoon and hike almost until dark – enough time to get ourselves nicely ensconced in rocky terrain.
The temperature drops quickly while the full moon rises slowly. We think back to our wedding night, not far from here, when the moon and wind were too wild for us to sleep outside according to our plan, and we retreated to the hotel. It’s not windy tonight, but the moon is bright enough to make us close the rain fly when we want to sleep.
It’s nice to wake up outside and walk for a while. There’s still no wind, but I can see it has been here.
