Clouds today provide the illusion of a sunrise well after dawn. It has an almost violent look, though I didn’t feel a breath of wind. The ducks didn’t mind at all, they seemed to be chasing each other through the reflections on the water.

They actually disappeared back around Christmas. It seemed like a dark time of year to move a huge stack of hay bales. Shortly after, cattle appeared in the field, grazing in the morning light. It’s probably all connected, but such is disjointed view of a ranch from the perspective of a passing bike commuter.

Unlike most mornings recently, the sky was grey today and the air felt like snow. The sunrise was just a thin line of orange behind the trees. It felt like the day to photograph this old dam, and my favorite shot was this one with a little motion blur that somehow best captured my mood.
